The W&OD Trail is located northeast of our substation. Trail users will notice activity, but we do not anticipate any impacts to the trail as a result of this substation project. However, there is another electric transmission line project occurring in this area along the W&OD Trail in 2022 and 2023. To learn about those impacts, visit DominionEnergy.com/Belmont.
We are committed to continually reviewing and analyzing our energy infrastructure to provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to the communities we serve. Northern Virginia, especially Loudoun County, is experiencing increasing energy demands which is driving the need for additional capacity in the electric transmission system to ensure reliability and resiliency for all customers. This project addresses these needs and will improve electric reliability for all customers in the area.
No, the expansion is entirely within the existing Dominion Energy-owned parcel and uses the existing right of way.
