At Dominion Energy, we are committed to providing the reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy that powers your every day. To replace aging equipment and maintain reliable service for our customers, we are preparing to rebuild an existing 230 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line in the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia between our Lynnhaven and Thalia substations. This project will also partially rebuild the line between our Thalia and Greenwich substations. We will replace the existing concrete monopoles with single circuit steel monopole structures.
This construction will occur along a five-mile corridor and remain within the existing right of way while crossing Interstate 264 and S. Independence Blvd. Preconstruction activities between our Greenwich and Thalia substations are planned for Late September/early October 2024, and construction is scheduled to begin in October 2024. Preconstruction activities between Thalia and Lynnhaven substations are expected to begin in November, and construction is scheduled to begin in January 2025.
We are dedicated to working safely and courteously in your community. Thank you for your patience while we complete this important reliability project.
