Edsall is a newly proposed substation in Fairfax County, connecting to the existing Van Dorn Substation. It’s needed to serve the growing data center load in that area. The project also includes new overhead electric transmission lines in a mostly industrial area where new townhomes have recently been constructed. The project website will give residents access to maps, simulations, a timeline and other project information so that residents can share their input on this project.

SCC Applications
The Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) has regulatory authority over all energy providers in Virginia. Among other responsibilities, the SCC validates the need for a proposed line and approves the route and structures. In reviewing a proposed project, the SCC must consider whether potential impacts on scenic assets, historic districts and the environment have been reasonably minimized.
