At Dominion Energy, we are dedicated to finding the best solution for the long-term energy needs within the communities we serve. As we remain focused on reliability and resiliency, we have identified two transmission lines in McCormick County near U.S. Highway 221 that are eligible for upgrades. Replacing the existing poles and equipment will enhance wind resistance during severe weather and provide more reliable and resilient power to the greater McCormick area.
Dominion Energy South Carolina will replace the existing 115-kilovolt (kV) and 46-kV wooden structures along a 6.8-mile section with self-supporting galvanized steel poles. The new design will bring the 115kV and 46kV lines onto the same alignment and free up space along the right of way. The design will meet all modern electric codes as well as provide additional reliability to our customers. Contracted crews will rebuild the lines on existing right of way.
Letters will be sent out to impacted property owners along the route as DESC progresses through its construction.
