Due to rapid growth and local comprehensive planning, Dominion Energy is placing a portion of an existing overhead 230 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line underground and constructing a new substation source in the Tysons area of Fairfax County.
This project will underground an existing overhead transmission line between our Tysons Substation on Tyco Road to a new transition pole just south of the future Spring Hill Substation southwest of Leesburg Pike and Spring Hill Road in Fairfax County.
The 230 kilovolt (kV) line is approximately half-mile in length and is consistent with Fairfax County’s Comprehensive Plan and responds to 2019 undergrounding pilot legislation.
Important Update: March 2024
The Vesper Trail is reopened to pedestrian traffic. Please be mindful that there may be construction activity in the area as the project is still ongoing.
