In 2023-2024, we rebuilt approximately 3.9 miles of an aging 230 kilovolt (kV) double-circuit electric transmission line between our Hathaway Substation and the Duke Energy Progress connection point located in Nash County, North Carolina. After six decades of reliable service, the original structures and related components were at the end of their service life and needed to be replaced. This rebuild meets current electric standards and will maintain service reliability for our customers. We rebuilt the line in two phases between fall 2023 and summer 2024. We rebuilt in the same right of way using galvanized steel monopole structures that are similar in height to the original lattice structures. No new right of way was needed.
