Project Overview

Dominion Energy plans to rebuild an existing 500 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line between our Elmont and Chickahominy Substations. The structures along this 28-mile corridor have been in operation for more than five decades and will be rebuilt to maintain reliable electric service.

  • February 2025 – Project announcement
  • March 2025 – Community Meetings
  • Late Spring 2025 – File application with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC)
  • Spring 2026 – Anticipated SCC final order received
  • 2025-2026 – Permitting, finalize engineering, pre-construction outreach
  • Fall 2026 – Anticipated construction start
  • Fall 2028 – Anticipated construction complete
