Ritter-Yemassee powerline project
As we remain focused on reliability and resiliency, we have identified a transmission corridor in Colleton and Hampton counties near U.S. Highway 17-A (Hendersonville Highway) that will be enhanced to meet the growing energy needs of our customers.

Dominion Energy contractors will add new self-supporting steel poles to support two new 230 kilovolt (kV) lines. These new poles will run parallel with the existing wooden h-frame line along established rights of way.  Dominion Energy will then convert the existing wooden structures to a 115kV line to efficiently carry more load on the system.

Benefits

  • Maintains current right of way.
  • Complies with mandatory standards to ensure safety, reliability and to meet future needs.
  • Increases reliability to Lowcountry.
  • Increases line capacity.

Timeline

  • Engineering design and environmental permitting began in early 2024. Transmission line construction will begin in summer 2025 and continue until summer 2026. In addition to weekdays and normal work hours, weekend work hours may be necessary to meet critical project schedules
