The structures along this 28-mile corridor have been in service for more than five decades and need replacing to maintain reliable electric service. Additionally, to address load growth in the region, Dominion Energy proposes new 500 kV structures that can also accommodate a 230 circuit underneath, also known as 5-2 structures.
Additionally, to support the load growth mentioned above, a second 230 kV circuit will be installed on existing structures with vacant arms in a nearby corridor.
