The project begins at the existing Burton Substation, near Robert Smalls Parkway in Beaufort and heads east. Along the way, the line crosses Robert Smalls Parkway, traverses through the Salem Farm area, and crosses Battery Creek. After Battery Creek, the line turns south and runs parallel to the Spanish Moss Trail for 2.5 miles. The line then turns east and parallels South Side Boulevard and then crosses over Ribaut Road.
Roughly 2.5 miles of this rebuild project parallels the Spanish Moss Trail. Dominion Energy recognizes this is a heavily used path for recreational activities and is committed to ensuring that residents are able to utilize as much of the trail safely as possible. While construction is ongoing, the Trail may be detoured or interrupted for short periods of time. The safety of our employees and the public is our highest priority.
