A Line Rebuild Project in Richland County, SC
We are planning to rebuild 20 miles of the 115 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line from Eastover to Hopkins in Richland County, South Carolina.
After being in operation for over 80 years, the Eastover to Hopkins 115 kV line needs to be rebuilt. The line is 20 miles in length. The entirety of the rebuild will be done exclusively on existing transmission rights-of-way.
We will replace the existing 115 kilovolt (kV) wooden poles with self-supporting galvanized steel structures. The new line will be designed to meet all modern electric codes as well as provide additional reliability and resiliency to the greater East Columbia area. The rebuilt lines will be constructed by Dominion Energy contractors.
The engineering design and environmental permitting began in the summer of 2020 and concluded in the second quarter of 2021. Construction began in the summer of 2023 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2024.
