Dominion Energy South Carolina will be replacing the existing 115-kilovolt (kV) wooden structures along Fort Johnson Road with steel poles. The new line will be designed to meet all modern electric codes as well as provide additional reliability and resiliency to the James Island area.
The transmission line replacement along Fort Johnson Road will be constructed in two phases. The first phase was completed in Spring 2024 and the second phase will begin Fall 2024. In addition to weekdays and normal work hours, weekend work hours may be necessary to meet critical project schedules.
There may be some traffic delays.
Noise levels will be moderate; permits are in place.
This project may have limited environmental impacts.
Access to surrounding neighborhoods may be impacted.
