Dominion Energy owns and operates a large materials and metering service center on Castlewood Road in Richmond, Virginia. The facility includes an equipment repair shop, material recycling, transportation, warehousing and rubber testing services. Located along Grindall Creek, the operational facility is working to update the stormwater drainage system to improve the quality of runoff into the nearby waterway.

Dominion Energy is upgrading the Castlewood Road facility for business and environmental stewardship purposes. Included in this upgrade is a new covered storage building for tanker trucks as well as an underground stormwater system designed to decrease environmental impact and enhance operational compliance.

The first phase of this project began in April 2023 and is expected to be completed in April 2024. This phase includes a new stormwater management system, tank storage building and lot resurfacing.

This project has received Pre-Certification under the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES). It is the first and only industrial site to receive this pre-certification.
