Dominion Energy Volunteers Support Veterans

Veterans participated in the 12th annual Troop Appreciation Fishing Derby.Veterans from all military branches cast their fishing lines on South Carolina’s Lake Murray this month to participate in the 12th annual Troop Appreciation Fishing Derby.
In partnership with the Troop Appreciation Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project, Dominion Energy volunteers welcomed more than 60 veterans from across South Carolina and neighboring states to the all-day event on the lake.
“Most of the veterans who join us have never been out on a lake to fish,” said Mike Glover, Troop Appreciation Foundation director. “Getting to provide this experience for them is just one way we can show our appreciation.”
Dominion Energy South Carolina President Keller Kissam hosted the awards luncheon.
“It’s because of these veterans that we can experience the great freedom of this country,” Kissam said. “They inspire us to do better in the communities they worked so hard to protect. This event is just one way we can say thank you.”
Made possible partly by a grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, the event recognizes veterans nationwide who experienced physical and psychological injuries during their military service.
“The Dominion Energy employee volunteers are great supporters of this event. They arrived before the sun is even up just to help make sure the event goes smoothly,” Glover said.
Volunteers cleaned and packaged more than 300 fish for the participants to take home.
Dominion Energy has a long history of supporting active-duty military, veterans and their families. One in five new hires at the company is a veteran.
