The Dominion Energy Educational Equity Scholarship Program was established to assist students residing in one of the states listed below, who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, ethnicity, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Dominion Energy Educational Equity Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a high school senior or graduate or current college undergraduate residing in one of the following states:
    • CT, VA, MD, NC, SC, and WV         
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Awards

Up to 20 awards of $5,000 will be granted to students pursuing 2-year programs and at least 40 awards of $10,000 will be granted to students pursuing 4-year degrees. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by Dominion Energy. Applicants must also continue to reside in one of the eligible states.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Finalists are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience,
  • A statement of educational and career goals and aspirations
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in their community
  • An online recommendation.

Financial information will be collected from applicants. 80% of scholarships will be awarded on a combination of need and merit with the remaining 20% awarded on the basis of merit.

 

Scholarship America will select finalists and Dominion Energy will determine the recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Dominion Energy. Payments are made in August payable to the school at which the student is enrolled.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information section of the application. Please verify the information on the 1040 matches what you have provided on your application. Also, be sure to black out all Social Security Numbers before uploading.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 18, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time
