Step 1: Start a Work Request

Gather the following information to set up your Work Request.

  • Legal name of company
  • Name, address, and phone number for an officer and registered agent of the company
  • Social Security Number (SSN) or Tax Identification Number (TIN)
  • Contact telephone number
  • Mailing address
  • Be prepared: Review Requirements Documentation located on the side of the page.
  • Create your work request with eBuilder. Or, contact us at 888-569-5700 to get the process started. We'll be in touch for details and a copy of the plat.
  • Track your Work Request. (Note: To track your work request, you'll need your Work Request Number.)

Effective 11/17/2022, we are enhancing our systems to provide you with an easier way to access your work orders, contracts and more. If you have any questions, please contact us at 1-866-366-4357.

Step 2: Make Sure Requirements for Service are Met

Allow Dominion energy to visit the property to decide electric service needs.

Sign any needed documentation and make any necessary payments to Dominion Energy. (Dominion Energy will determine if there are applicable charges. We will also prepare necessary documents, such as Easement Process and Agreements.)

Check that metering and electrical requirements are met (Refer to The Blue Book).

Start the electric inspection from the county or city building inspector's office. The inspector's office will notify Dominion Energy of approval.

Make sure the items on the Site Ready Checklist are completed.

Step 3: Install Your Service

Schedule installation with Dominion Energy.

Keep in mind: Construction schedules can vary depending on the size and type of work.

External factors like bad weather, emergencies, or outages also affect scheduling. If we need to dig, we’ll call 811 to mark the existing public underground utility lines, such as cable TV, water, and gas. Digging can't begin until all underground facilities are marked.

Once your site is ready and requirements complete, we'll provide an approximate time the installation will begin.

Step 4: About Your Account

Review and pay fees, as required.

  • Deposit requirements—Depending upon credit verification, a security deposit may be needed.
  • Service initiation fee—A service initiation fee of $31.65 for North Carolina will be on the first bill.

Manage your Account Online.

Once your service is connected, you can sign in or register your account online. From there, sign up for eBill, make payments online, and more.
