One of the greatest benefits of EVs is that there is no need to go to a gas station – just pull into your garage or driveway and plug in! All EVs come with a charging cord that can plug into a standard 120V outlet. For those wanting to charge at a higher speed, there are several options available.
The cost of charging your EV depends on how much you drive. For customers who drive less than 40 miles a day, it costs about $1 a day to charge your EV at home. Your electric bill will likely go up, but your monthly gasoline expenses should drop considerably more.
The electric grid can certainly support the number of EVs on the road today. As adoption increases, Dominion Energy is investing in technology, tools, and programs to serve the needs of our customers.
We're also strengthening and modernizing our grid for the future. We know that access to reliable, clean, competitively priced energy is more important than ever to our customers, including those who rely on electricity to power their EVs.
