Dominion Energy partners with statewide Students@Work initiative to connect local students to jobs in their communities.
Middle school students visited Dominion Energy North Carolina facilities this spring for interactive events that included tours, live demonstrations and hands-on activities for them to learn about local employment opportunities in the natural gas business.
Students from Grier, Holbrook and W.C. Friday middle schools visited DENC headquarters in Gastonia, and Wake Forest and Heritage middle schools visited Cary Energy Center. Students saw pipe fusion and welding, a utility locating demonstration, engaged in an engineering competition, and toured the company’s metering and fabrication shops as well as a liquified natural gas (LNG) plant. They also learned about degreed and non-degreed opportunities and heard firsthand about employees’ career journey and commitment to safety.
"The tour of your facility and career information provided was a great experience for the students"

“The tour of your facility and career information provided was a great experience for the students. Thank you for taking the time to invest in career education for our schools,” said Deanna Baucom, Career Development Coordinator at Gaston County Schools.
Dominion Energy partnered with North Carolina Business Committee for Education as part of a statewide career awareness effort that offers thousands of public-school students the chance to connect classroom learning with careers they may choose to explore in the future. This is the first year Dominion Energy hosted middle schoolers at Cary Energy Center, the company’s LNG facility.
“Thank you all for a great experience at Dominion Energy. My students and I learned so much regarding your company and the different careers pathways students can take,” Lauren Loomis, a Business Education Teacher at Wake Forest middle school.
