Holly Green Map Access the EV Capacity Map

The EV Capacity Map Tool shows high voltage three phase distribution lines and their current grid capacity in Dominion Energy’s service territory. The tool also shows existing public fast charging stations in Virginia and North Carolina.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We plan to refresh the data at least quarterly. The date shown in the Legend reflects the most recent update.

Open one of the maps and move to the desired region in Dominion Energy’s electric service territory in Virginia and North Carolina, zooming in (+ button) and out (- button) as needed. A “Find address or place” search tool is located in the upper left-hand corner. Click the “L” button to see the legend showing the capacity range indicated by each line color.

High Voltage 3 Phase Primary Circuit Capacity

 Greater than 5 MW

– Up to 5 MW

– Up to 3 MW

– Up to 1 MW

As an example of interpreting the legend, when seeking a potential location for a 2 MW of EV Charging, a section of line that is colored red (with availability up to 1 MW) would not have enough capacity. Instead look for lines that are orange, yellow, or green.

If you don’t see 3 phase lines at your site, please contact our Electrification team and we can take a closer look at your potential site. Email us at Electrification@dominionenergy.com.

The current version of EV hosting capacity analysis excludes industrial feeders and network feeders. In addition, the map excludes one- and two-phase lines, sections below 11kV, and conductor within proximity of the company's critical assets or customers.

The analysis does not consider projects that are in earlier stages of development but are not yet energized. It also does not consider proposed or planned infrastructure projects.
