As part of the ten-year Grid Transformation Plan, Dominion Energy Virginia is installing fiber optic cable on our equipment to ensure security, reliability, and resiliency. Our mission is to improve operations and communications required for a transformed grid and to prepare for a clean energy future.

These fiber projects:

• Modernize grid operations; help improve outage response with real-time visibility and control
• Provide necessary communications to substations and other vital equipment
• Facilitate supporting more distributed energy resources, such as solar and wind

As part of this initiative, you may see Dominion Energy employees and our authorized contractors connecting fiber optic cable to our existing equipment in your area. Property owners along these rights of way will receive a postcard prior to work commencing.

Please note, this fiber installation effort supports utility operations and is not part of the separate Rural Broadband Program. Dominion Energy is not an Internet Service Provider, however, we have partnerships with ISPs working to deliver broadband connectivity to unserved homes and businesses across Virginia.
